Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend was filled with lots of outside play. We went for several walks, wagon rides, playing in the grass.

Christina's flowers were too big for the little starter box so she put them in a big pot with lots of room to grow. Christina's favorite part was digging in the dirt.

Christina did lots of swinging outside over the weekend. For something different I lowered the swing so Christina could reach the grass. It was fun to watch her stretch her toes to touch the grass as she went back and forth. At first she didn't know what to think, but it didn't take long for her to figure out she can make the swing turn and twist with her feet.

We also made cookies and they turned out delicious. Christina made sure to taste to be sure.

The princess did a great job holding her head up for wagon rides. We tried taking a bumpy ride over the lawn and Christina is a big fan of bumps and going down the little hills. Dylan offered his services to pull the wagon. He was sure to find all the puddles to pull Christina through.

On Memorial Day Spring came to visit with her family. Christina enjoyed more grilled food and was happy to show everyone her smile.

Here is an article from US Cyber Security. The title is "Cyber Security Tip ST06-002: Debunking Some Common Myths". I have listed the myths they cover below. Go to their site for the truths.

* Myth: Anti-virus software and firewalls are 100% effective.
* Myth: Once software is installed on your computer, you do not have to
worry about it anymore.
* Myth: There is nothing important on your machine, so you do not need to
protect it.
* Myth: Attackers only target people with money.
* Myth: When computers slow down, it means that they are old and should be
replaced.

Catching Up

As the housework gets whittled away I managed to get caught up reading some emails. I found some good information and will post each item individually.

Last weekend was busy with Christina. We had the UCP Short Walk on Saturday morning. The weather had a little chill and was very damp. We did not run into any rain while we were outdoors.

The Doll and Pet Parade was Saturday afternoon. Christina had fun and it was nice to watch her wave to the onlookers.

Sunday was nice and sunny so most of the day was spent outside.

It won't be long and school will be out for Christina.

Saturday was a busy day. Christina and I participated in the UCP Short Walk. Christina raised a little money for a good cause and of course she enjoyed the walk in the park despite the weather. Afterwards we enjoyed breakfast in the tent.

Christina and I would like to thank those who sponsored/donated to the cause. Thank you Grandma, Bob, Tom, Dan, JJ, Steve, Pam and the others. It is very appreciated.

After a break at home we headed to the Doll & Pet Parade. Christina was cute as ever and turned heads as we walked to get in line. Christina is turning into quite the social butterfly waving to the crowd as we went by.

Getting ready with Aushleana. In line

Hurry with the picture.

Sunday was a sunny day so more outside time. Christina enjoyed walking in the gait trainer and swinging.

Christina has been doing well staying well since she got sick. The sickness is still in the air. There was a letter from the health department stating of the round of chicken pox going around school.

Again Christina has enjoyed the sunny weather.

As I sit here sweating I am debating on whether or not I should turn on the air. It is only May. I seem to have missed spring.

To add to the confusing weather, there is a tornado watch until tomorrow.

Not good weather for car/truck batteries. Kept busy at work today.

Lots of sun

The past few days gave Christina lots of time to catch some sunshine. Christina loves playing outside and when the weather cooperates outside it is. Christina enjoyed the park and had a few good laughs as I tried to fit down the slide.

The gait trainer gave Christina a good workout also. I am always amazed how well she can go in her gait trainer. It is nice to have her choose to walk in the gait trainer.

Thursday was the last day of speech therapy for this round. Christina will start again soon for the summer session.

The swing has continued to be a favorite. I have made a few more adjustments and I think we have the swing perfected. We also tried a homemade kick board. Christina did not mind laying on it, but she did fuss when I wanted her to scoot along the floor. As typical Christina behavior she fussed and whined a little as she pushed and pulled herself around the floor. With a smile between cries, Christina made me very proud.

Christina has also continued to be talkative as ever. She loves talking on the phone. We take time each day to make at least one phone call.

Christina is such an outdoor lover that with the rain and wind today she was ecstatic to be outside. The brief time we were outdoors the wind picked up and blew rain on Christina's face, she squealed and squirmed trying to lick the rain drops.

Hospital

What a week.

Christina being sick really took a toll on the princess. With the round of flu she picked up it really upset her belly. Christina became very dehydrated and ended up going to Urgent Care and then to the Emergency Room. After several hours in the ER the doctor wanted to admit her. A couple hours later Christina was in a room taking a much needed nap.

I won't go into detail, but let's say once again when mom/dad tell the nurses Christina is difficult to get a line started, they mean it. With a dose of Versed, three people holding her down, one person sticking only two lines blew before getting the IV started on number three. Let me see that commercial again for the hospital telling me how quick, and wonderful of a job they do. At least there is only ONE mistake at a time.

After lots of fluids via IV and a round of meds via the IV Christina was on track to back to normal. With lots of hugs and kisses and some make shift playtime in the hospital room Christina was discharged by lunch time on Tuesday.

Christina was very hungry and once the OK came from the doc she ate with huge bites. Today, Wednesday, Christina is much better and seems back to her normal self. We're still wondering whether Christina should go to school tomorrow. It is a safe bet if we ask her she will say yes. Christina really enjoys school.
