Surgery Went Well

Christina's osteotomy surgery went well. Christina also healed quickly. We were discharged in just over two days.

Of course we did lots of walking. Well, I walked, Christina rode in an oversized wheelchair. I also made a modified seat in a large wagon and brought that with. We got lots of comments about how much we walk together.

Next Surgery

Where oh where to begin.

Christina is scheduled to have hip surgery on June 28. There was a rush put on scheduling the hip surgery so that she can have back surgery sooner than later.

I am not sure what to think. This news really hit hard. I feel like I got hit in the gut with a two by four. After the last doctor appointment covering the hip and back we talked about scheduling the hip surgery late summer. This alone did not sit well with me. The thought of it made me uncomfortable.

Now I am very distraught trying to get a grasp on everyting. I started on the temporary wagon seat for Christina and her being casted. Soon to be done and ready for the princess.

Massages

I have been trying to give Christina massages often. I ask first, just in case she doesn't want one. Silly daddy, Christina always wants another massage.

With Christina's legs and hips hurting, I figure maybe massaging the muscles will help. Christina has wanted more diazepam these last few weeks. She has a higher than average pain tolerance; probably due to the constant involuntary muscle activity and surgeries.

Oh my Princess Christina, if only I could make it all better.

Rhyzotomy Followup

So after this last doctor appointment for Christina, my mind has been put at ease. Sort of.

All of the thoughts concerning the rhyzotomy surgery have been reassured by the doctor. Both good and not so good.

We have come up with a game plan that makes sense and should be the best route for Christina. It never fails though that I wonder if we are making the right choices.
