Phenol Blocks

So the trip to the cities yesterday was not fun at all. There was a big accident on the freeway in Wisconsin and we had to sit there for a long time. We did make it to Minnetonka on time with enough to spare for lunch before my appointment.  So Tanaguchi said that it is a go for phenol blocks to help my hips develop correctly. The results are immediate and he said that I will probably have to re learn everything that I know; such as walking in the gait trainer and balance, because the tone in my legs will be different.  We are also looking at using botox for my arms but mommy and daddy said that we are only doing one thing at a time. I am also getting botox in my calves at the same time as the phenol.

So when I get the phenol I will be in the OR and mommy and daddy can not go in with me. I know that they are sad about that. I am a trooper I know that I will be just fine.

News today my tooth (molar) finally broke through and there was a lot of blood but it felt better after wards. I still do not want to eat much unless it is cold but that will pass soon. Yippy

Pictures will follow. Daddy got a picture of the whole crew at Gillette Childrens.

Cole came over tonight. Dave and Crystal had a concert to go to. Christina, Cole and I had a good time. It is interesting to watch Christina when another child is around.

We sang, played with toys, and had a snack. Christina and I taught Cole some signs. He catches on quickly.

Whats new....

On December 1, I got to see Santa Clause. He read me a book and sang Rudolph with me. It was fun. After we went to find me an outfit for my pictures that I am going to get done. We didn't find one we liked.

I got real sick right after we visited Santa. It started with a cold and then by Saturday I broke out with hives but mommy and daddy didn't know that. Mom said that if they were blue instead of red I would have looked like a smurf. I did not sleep for the whole week, mom and dad didn't get much either. I really didn't want to eat much and lost some weight. On Saturday is when the hives broke out, mommy and daddy took me to urgent care that morning and what started as a cold ended up to be an ear infection, bacterial infection, and a viral infection (the cold) with hives. So I am taking antibiotics. I feel much better now. Still sick but better.

We got our Christmas tree on Saturday. Out neighbors brought it for us. We were going to go with them to pick one out but of course I was sick. Deb, Cory and Trevor stayed for a while and hung out after they brought over the tree.  It is very a very pretty tree.I really like playing with Trevor. He is 5 and in kindergarten. We have fun. I also walked for Deb, Trevor's mom. Mommy and Daddy were very impressed with me walking for someone else.

On Monday the vision teacher came with Jenny to see how I am doing. She was very happy with the improvements that I have made.  After a couple of days of antibiotics I am feeling much better and sleeping much better. Now mommy and daddy are sick.

Today I walked to grandpa Eddy's in my gait trainer in the snow with mommy. It was so fun. Grandpa Eddy lives across the driveway. I got a Reeses peanut butter cup when I got there. He always has chocolate for me.

Today my Botox got rescheduled and it is January 7 instead of February 3. I will be getting phenol blocks as well. Mommy is already a little nervous because I have to go into the OR and have local anesthesia. We will keep everyone updated when the time comes. Mommy also canceled my sleep appointment in the cities on Friday because I was too sick earlier in the week and did not want to push anything.

Christina is sick today. She hasn't been feeling well for a few days.

One of the bottom molars poked through with an attitude. Christina had a flap of gum flopping over her tooth. The other molar on the bottom is so close. It has been swollen for awhile. The two on top are still taking there time.

I think the teething has put her in the path to getting a cold. She has a cough. It sounds very rough. It has progressively been getting worse. She has been clingy and whiny. I would imagine she has a headache too.

While Angela was out of the house getting her school work done, Christina and I wrapped a couple presents. She enjoyed playing with the paper.

We all have a lot to be thankful for here, hope that everyone else feels the same way. It has been real nice having daddy around these extra days. On Saturday he too me swimming and we had lots of fun.

My molar came out on the one side. We it is peaking out half way and I have a flap of gum covering the rest. It has been very painful and mommy has gotten little sleep, but it is almost over.

I am getting better in my braces but I still do not like them. I guess I will have to get over that. I am also trying real hard to say mommy and daddy. I think I almost got it.

Bye for now....

It's Black Friday. Angela went shopping this morning and I am out for coffee this afternoon.

I am going through pictures to double check my organization. And, trying to make another slideshow for ALL the photos.

As I am going through the pictures of Christina it brings a tear to my eye. Really more like crying. She was so small. Looking back, I was a basket case. We all have come a long way. I am very lucky Christina is with us.

I included a photo to share. This was July 5, 2006. Christina is in her incubator at Children's Minneapolis.

Yesterday I got my first teeth cleaning. I was not too happy with it but It was not too bad. I have great teeth and do not need to come back for 6 months.

This weekend uncle James and aunt Robyn came over on Sunday and I showed some of the new things that I can do. Robyn even read me a book. Uncle James and daddy gave me swing rides on my sheet and they bounced me too. It was fun.

So not to much is new here. Hope that everyone has a happy Thanksgiving. Toodles

The dentist visit went well overall. Christina was not happy while they cleaned her teeth or when anyone was poking around for that matter. She was back to her happy and smiling self when everything was done.

The dentist asked if Christina had been cranky lately. Angela and I looked at each other, we both replied yes. The dentist said she is teething and her two year molars are very close to coming out. We asked also how long it takes for teeth to come in. Christina seems to drag each tooth popping as a long process. They assured us that these molars could take months. Argh.

After the dentist, Angela and Christina did some more shopping and brought me coffee at the office. Mmm, can't go wrong with good coffee.

We have a sleep consultation coming up in December for Christina. The real treat will be trying to get her up there for a sleep study. Heh heh.

Today Christina has her first teeth cleaning. It will be her second dentist appointment. The first one went well. They did not do much. Just a check up. Today though, today I am a little skeptical at how Christina will react.

I'm feeling a bit sick. I need a goodnight sleep and the chance to sleep in.

James and Robyn came over yesterday. We all had a nice visit. Christina is getting better socializing.

I made breakfast for everyone. It was Sunday, pancakes for breakfast. Christina ate a lot for breakfast.

James and I swung Christina on the sheet. She really enjoyed it and showed James the more sign.

Robyn read to Christina. They enjoyed a couple of Dr.Suess books. Christina did very well.

Christina also showed how well she can run in the gait trainer. She did very well. We did not have her braces on for that.
